Choosing the Right Shade of Blue for Your Cabinets

As more and more homeowners are growing tired of the whites and grays of the neutral minimalist trend, colors like blue, black, and green are making their way into kitchens. Blue seems to be particularly popular and we think it’s a great choice for kitchen cabinets because of its versatility and its ability to act as a neutral color when you choose the right shade. So...how do you choose the right shade of blue for your cabinets? We’ve got a few tips to help you.

Tried-and-True Navy Blue

Blue Mist

Blue mist is what we call that pale, greenish-blue hue so many homeowners love. If you love white but want just a bit more oomph, this is your shade. It’s light-reflective which keeps your kitchen bright and it pairs well with other cool tones like white, gray, black, and most wood tones.

Royal Blue

If you want a statement-making color, royal blue is your shade. Pair it with white, gray, or warm tones. Copper and brass hardware complement this shade best.

Cadet Blue and Haint Blue

These shades are similar but just different enough to talk about them both. Cadet blue, also known as French blue, is a medium-intensity shade of blue that works well with both warm and cool tones, which makes it about as versatile as blue gets. Haint blue is that porch blue you see everywhere here in the South. As it turns out, it works great on cabinets, too, particularly for those who are going for that French country/farmhouse look. Like its close cousin cadet blue, haint blue is versatile and works well with a variety of tones and hardware metals.
