Our Five Favorite Closets From Around the World

Did you know that a closet can be a make-or-break decision for some homebuyers? A master bedroom with a lackluster closet or even other bedrooms with small closets can be a huge turn-off for an otherwise great home. Closets don’t have to be massive to be functional…it’s all in how you organize the storage. Today, we’re taking a look at our five favorite closets from around the world.

United Kingdom

What’s not to love about this calm, inviting closet with all the storage space plus a comfy couch and a great view? The custom cabinets on the left go on for days with cabinetry all the way to the ceiling and around the seating nook. The shoe shelf in the back carries on behind the seating nook. With a closet like this, you won’t just have a favorite place to store your apparel, you’ll have the perfect hideaway for an afternoon nap.

France

If you’ve ever caught an episode of House Hunters: International, you know that Americans are often surprised by how small, well, everything is in European homes. France is no exception, but designers have been creating functional storage in small spaces for decades. Stephanie Revol of In Volumine designed this closet in a home near Paris, and it includes a bookshelf on the side. Revol used a cool mint green contrasted with leather handles for a modern French look. If you’re looking for a great closet for small spaces and minimalist homeowners, we found it.

Spain

Sliding doors open to reveal a rather spacious walk-in closet with tons of storage and a dressing area. This closet, located in Valencia, Spain, offers a beautiful view overlooking the city’s botanical gardens.

United States

We adore so much about this New York closet, but mostly the recessed drawers and pullout shelves for your shoes. Everything is open yet organized and stored away neatly. You could easily fit a small chaise lounge in the space to create a dressing area.

Australia

Simple, clean, classic styles characterize Australian homes, and this closet reflects that perfectly. The light shaker cabinets that climb all the way to the ceiling offer no-see storage behind clean lines that work well in either a contemporary or historic home.
